This B'nai Mitzvah art called "Alhambra", is inspired by Moorish motifs and patterns.
The outermost square gold frame surrounds intricate multi-colored tiles. The layered flowers, in hues of gold, orange, and green, appear to float above the aqua and gold background.
Surrounding the circular text area is a glowing turquoise and white lattice pattern.
At the top of the design, within the circular gold window, is an antique Sephardic jeweled Torah case, velvet Torah mantle and Torah scrolls, reminding the B'nai mitzvah that we, as Jews, have been given the treasure of the holy Torah by Hashem.
Within the central golden frame that features the text of the Torah or Haftarah portion chanted by the B'nai Mitzvah, a subtle pattern featuring a Mogan David, or Star of David, appears. This design emulates the beautiful stained glass rose window from Istanbul’s Neve Shalom synagogue.
